Brand founder
Vanessa is an Ecuadorian woman who embraced Islām in 2002 while living in the United States. From the very beginning, she sought to practice her religion, though she naturally kept many of her customs. She immediately began changing her attire, and when she started looking for modest clothing for her young daughters, she couldn’t find what she had in mind. Stores mostly offered traditional Eastern designs, with styles that didn’t connect with the kind of children’s clothing she was used to—playful, comfortable, cheerful, and suited to everyday life in the West.
That’s when an idea was born: why not create modest clothing for girls with a Western design? A simple yet powerful idea. Over the years, that spark remained in the background as she dedicated herself fully to the study of Islam and to working on da‘wah projects, especially in the field of education.
That calling led her to co-found the Estudiando Islam Foundation, an initiative that offers Islamic education with pedagogical methodologies to new Muslims in Latin America, with the goal of supporting those who are new to Islam —just as she once was. It was deeply fulfilling work, but unfortunately, it couldn’t grow without financial support, which they sought but couldn’t secure. That’s when she made an important decision: to find a source of income on her own that would allow her to at least cover part of the foundation’s operations and bring it some stability.
She remembered the idea of Islamic dresses for girls with a Western touch, and began developing it seriously. That’s how Pearls Honor was born: a clothing brand that, through modesty, fosters honor in girls —while staying connected to Western aesthetics and lifestyle.
